San Mateo County Superior Court Selects Chad L. Peace As Its New Court Executive Officer

Redwood City, Calif – Chad L. Peace, Director of Justice Court Services for Harris County, Texas and Judge of Municipal Courts in Montgomery County, Texas has been selected as the new Court Executive Officer for the San Mateo County Superior Court.

Peace has been the Director of Justice Court Services for Harris County, Texas since 2022, developing and monitoring justice court operational budgets and justice court performance standards. He previously served as the Director of Court Administration for Montgomery County, Texas beginning in 2019, and the Director of Court Development for the Kansas Supreme Court in 2018.

Peace has extensive experience in a wide range of court operations, finance, and employee training. He works directly with hundreds of court staff, supervisors, managers, administrators, executives, and judges while consulting to improve court processes in over 100 counties. Peace has overseen the administration of eight district courts, six county courts, and five justice courts with eleven locations across the county.

Since 2022, Peace has served as Municipal Court Judge for Montgomery, Magnolia, and Stagecoach in Montgomery County, Texas. In addition to his judicial duties, Peace also leads court activities with the Municipal Court Administrator, Court Clerk, City Prosecutor, and other city offices.

Peace has also worked as a lead implementation consultant for Tyler Technologies on major case management software projects, completing business process reviews of court operations and providing recommendations to increase efficiency. The San Mateo County Superior Court currently uses Odyssey case management system and case portal software from Tyler Technologies.

Peace holds a Juris Doctor degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Concordia University Chicago. He has obtained the Certified Court Manager, Certified Court Executive, and Institute for Court Management (ICM) Fellows designations through the National Center for State Courts (NCSC). Peace is admitted to the State Bar of Texas, State Bar of Kansas, as well as the US District Court of Kansas.

Chad L. Peace will begin his role as the San Mateo County Superior Court’s new Court Executive Office in February of 2025, taking over for outgoing Court Executive Officer, Neal I. Taniguchi, who is retiring after 37 years of government service. Taniguchi has been with the San Mateo County Superior Court for 14 years and has served as the Court Executive Officer for over the last six years.
